WebDicer determines the length of a miRNA, but either Dicer or Drosha can determine its 5′ end, depending on whether the miRNA resides in the 5′ or 3′ arm of its pre-miRNA. For a miRNA residing in the 5′ arm of pre-miRNA, Drosha cleavage defines the 5′ end and Dicer-1 cleavage defines the 3′ end.
