The rated stall is not the same as "flash" stall..example,I run a B+M 2400 Holeshot..with my torquey 454,it flashes to 3100..same convertor with a stock 454 flashes to 2800-2900. With that in mind,a 3000 stall will probably flash to 3500 or more with a 400 CI+ and flash to 3000-3100 with a 350 CI.

I took the converter into Pat's (Phila. area) and had it gone through and tightened up to 3000. Now it will flash to 2500 and tighten up real hard at 2900 - 3000. Using a loose 11" converter to get the stall you want vs a tight 10" makes a big difference.

Basically what it does is slip until you get the rpm up to the stall speed before it fully engages. Until it fully engages, it is slipping and building heat.
