If you didn't have an external DNS forwarder set up then your AD DNS would then have to rely on the root hints file which is less efficient, but is effectively doing the same thing (i.e going out to the internet to get the required IP address back). WebHow should you configure root hints for Dns2 and Dns3? In DNS Manager, edit the properties for Dns2 and Dns3. On the Root Hints tab, remove all default root hints entries and then add an entry for Dns1. Your Active Directory network uses the internal DNS namespace private.westsim.com.
