WebbStaring is thought of to be a rude act. As children, we were taught not to stare, it was proper manners. “Staring is an ocular response to what we don’t expect to see.” (Garland-Thomson, 3). We stare at what interests us. Staring is looked at as being a guilty pleasure and associated with being the same as eating and sex. Anyone who looks at me and near me is a confirmation that I'm being stared at. These confirmations fuel my paranoia. In reality, people are staring at me about as much as I am staring at them.
